Some men just don’t know when they are on to a good thing and their reasons for endingrelationships borderline ridiculous. My male friends have ended relationships with their girlfriends for silly reasons, to name a few:

1) wearing the wrong type of shoes; or
2) her mother; or
3) because the new barmaid at his favorite bar smiled at him.

Now I can understand number 3 - pretty girls turn heads; and in relation to number 2, there is the dreaded notion that a woman may turn into her mother. However, guys - come on; ending a relationship because of the wrong type of shoes?

If women refused to date men due to their choice of clothes, the human race would have been wiped out by now. There is the saying that behind every well dressed man is a good woman- first his mother and later on his wife!

I always tell my men friends that they need to make an advantages/disadvantages list before choosing to end a relationship. Ask yourself questions like do you find her interesting? Are you attracted to her? Does she laugh at your jokes? Does she look after you? Does she cook for you?

On the disadvantages side, okay, may she nag a little too much. However, guys, maybe if you just accepted the fact that the toilet seat remains up she just might stop with the nagging. She may not want any more than a cuddle and a kiss every single evening, but this does not mean she does not care enough.

Evaluating in writing the good and the bad may seem like a cold and hard fast approach, however there are elements of practicality and logicality in this way. Only after comparing the two sides of the list do you then decide whether a break up is in order.

Putting your thoughts down on paper, for whatever exercise, always helps to clarify a decision that needs to be made. We may regret the breakup and feeling lonely, but loneliness is not enough of a reason to get back together.

However, if you have left your woman and you soon realize that this was a mistake; act fast. Like money, life partners do not grow on trees. Not many women are willing to put up with many things. If she put up with a lot, then why not accept her for her flaws like she had done with you?

Take a leaf out Richard Gere’s book and put some romance back into her life. It’s never too old fashioned to send her flowers; not any random ones, but some of her favorites. Post her a handwritten letter telling her how much you love, appreciate and miss her.

Make a reservation at her favorite restaurant and treat her to a night out. It is quite simple really. Treat her just like the princess you believe her to be. Presuming that you are not a complete and utter disgrace, you will never have to ask friends again about how to get your ex girlfriend back.
